Kiwi Master 4Runner Cargo Mat Review

HOW DO I RATE THIS?

The cargo area of my 4Runner gets used for pretty much everything. Groceries, camping equipment, coolers, chairs, boxes, firewood, and plenty of other things that aren’t exactly friendly to a carpeted cargo floor.

That’s why I installed this Kiwi Master Cargo Mat. I’ve had it for about a year now, and it has been installed and in use the entire time. After putting it through a year of real-world use, it has done exactly what I needed it to do.

Fit

The fit is excellent.

The Kiwi Master mat fits the 4Runner cargo area like a glove. It follows the contours of the floor and covers the areas I want protected without feeling like a generic mat that was made to fit several different vehicles.

It also works with the factory cargo-area fasteners, which is important because there’s no reason to give up the functionality Toyota already built into the cargo area just to add a protective mat.

Real-World Use

This mat gets used constantly.

I’m not just putting groceries and a few shopping bags on it. My 4Runner gets used for camping and road trips, so the cargo area regularly carries things like camping equipment, coolers, chairs, boxes, firewood, and even sharp or rough objects.

That’s exactly the kind of use where I want a cargo mat.

Without something protecting the factory cargo floor, all of that gear would eventually leave its mark. Firewood alone is enough to make me nervous about putting it directly on the factory surface.

After a year of this kind of use, the cargo area underneath the mat is protected, and the mat itself still looks like new.

Does It Move Around?

No.

The mat stays in place, and I’ve never had an issue with it sliding around while driving or when loading and unloading gear.

That’s particularly useful when you’re moving heavier objects around in the back. I don’t have to constantly reposition the mat or worry about it bunching up underneath whatever I’m carrying.

Dirt, Water and Cleaning

This is another area where the mat has been extremely useful.

Camping and outdoor trips inevitably mean dirt, dust, sand, mud, and other debris finding their way into the cargo area. With this mat installed, I don’t have to worry nearly as much about keeping the factory cargo floor clean.

When the mat gets dirty, I simply remove it, hose it down, and put it back.

That’s it.

There’s no complicated cleaning process and no need to spend time trying to scrub dirt out of the factory carpet.

Durability

After a year of constant use, the mat still looks like new.

That’s probably the most impressive part for me considering what I’ve put on it.

It’s carried everything from normal groceries to camping equipment and firewood. It’s been exposed to sharp objects, heavy gear, coolers, chairs, boxes, and all the general abuse that comes with actually using a 4Runner.

I’ve had no problems with the mat wearing out, becoming damaged, or losing its shape.

What I Like

Honestly, there’s not much to complain about.

It fits perfectly, stays in place, works with the factory fasteners, is easy to clean, and has held up extremely well.

Most importantly, it gives me the freedom to actually use the cargo area without constantly worrying about damaging the factory floor.

That’s what I want from a cargo mat.

Would I Buy It Again?

Hell yeah.

The cargo area of my 4Runner would be absolutely messed up by now if this mat wasn’t protecting it.

I use the 4Runner hard, especially when camping and taking road trips, and the cargo mat has taken all of that abuse without giving me any problems.

After a year of constant use, I have no reason to replace it and no reason to look for something else.

Final Thoughts

The Kiwi Master Cargo Mat has become one of those 4Runner accessories that I don’t really think about anymore — and that’s a good thing.

It’s always installed, it fits perfectly, stays in place, works with the factory cargo fasteners, and protects the cargo floor from everything I throw in the back.

I’ve used it for a full year with everything from groceries to camping gear, firewood, coolers, chairs, boxes, and sharp objects. It has handled all of it and still looks like new.

If you actually use your 4Runner for camping, road trips, hauling gear, or anything else where the cargo area is going to get abused, protecting the factory floor is worth it.

For me, this mat has absolutely done its job.
