Oh—and had a close call with a massive rattlesnake and spotted a lone coyote on a ridgeline.

Located roughly 90 minutes from Ensenada, Ejido Eréndira is the kind of coastal village and small fisherman’s town, that doesn’t show up on tourist brochures—but it should. The final stretch of the drive cuts through desert landscapes and dusty trails on one side, and the dramatic cliffs and roaring waves of the Pacifc Ocean on the other. This is where pavement ends and real adventure begins.
Fossils Along the Pacific Cliffs
One of the most surreal parts of this trip was stumbling upon ancient marine fossils carved into the cliff walls. You don’t need a guide or permit—just a sense of curiosity and respect for nature. The rocks are full of embedded shells, clams, and spiraling sea life, frozen in time.

Natural Geysers: Baja’s Hidden Showstoppers
Along the coast, you’ll find one of Baja’s wildest natural phenomena: sea geysers. You may have heard or even visited the wildly touristy “La Bufadora” in Ensenada, but these smaller ocean-powered blowholes are worth the visit as they erupt when waves force water through volcanic rock formations, shooting plumes high into the air with a thunderous roar.
We caught them in action close to sunset—the mist catching the light just right, while the wind carried salty spray across the area. It was chaotic, beautiful, and totally unfiltered. You could visit a dozen beaches in Mexico and never see something like this.
Close Encounters With Baja Wildlife
This trip also reminded us that Baja is still wild in every sense. As we were returning home, we suddenly froze: on the side of the dirt road, a giant rattlesnake was basking in the sun. Thick-bodied and alert, it gave us just enough time to film it, before it started to back away before slithering into the brush. It was a heart-pounding moment—but also a reminder of how alive this place is.
Not long after, we spotted a solitary coyote roaming along a ridgeline, its silhouette framed by the lowering sun. It didn’t run, didn’t approach—just glanced at us for a second, then disappeared into the brush. No filter. No fences. Just nature doing its thing.
Mussels and Seafood Straight From the Shore
If you’re a fan of fresh mussels, this coastline is a dream. At low tide, we found clusters of mussels clinging to the rocks—shiny, salty, and thriving in the crashing surf. Local foragers often gather them for dinner, and we did the same, but enjoyed them during a seafood feast of a lunch!
