How Everything Was Born from Stubbornness, Passion, and a Love of the Outdoors
I’m so excited to share that I was recently featured in Bold Journey, where I got to open up about the real story behind Miles and Hikes—how it all started, the mindset that carried me through, and why I believe it’s never too late to chase freedom.

This Miles and Hikes Interview dives into more than just road trips and gear. It opens with a question I absolutely loved:
Where do you get your work ethic from?
The clear answer? My Dad.
He was intense, a perfectionist, and big on never accepting “I don’t know” for an answer. If you didn’t know something, you were expected to go find out. That mindset shaped me deeply—this mix of stubborn curiosity and self-reliance. I see it now in the way I built my Channel from scratch, figuring out every tool, editing software, and piece of the puzzle along the way.
From Software to Solo Campsites
Before and also while building Miles and Hikes, I have been working full time in the software world, a very fast-paced industry, spending endless hours in front of a computer—draining my soul. Eventually, I started taking weekend escapes to clear my head. Those escapes turned into solo road trips. And then one day, I realized I it was exactly what I needed!
More freedom, more nature, and more time to create on my own terms. That’s when Miles and Hikes was born—a platform to help other women over 40 find confidence outdoors and embrace a life of exploration.
What I Create (and Why)
Miles and Hikes blends inspiration with real tools. Plus, a curated STORE featuring printable road trip planners, survival guides, and resources designed especially for women over 40 who are ready to hit the road with confidence.
And of course, the Miles and Beats music series under the BuenosBeats brand, a music project inspired by the landscapes I travel through. Think downtempo, ambient, deep house… the kind of soundscape that keeps you grounded and free on the road.
The Skills That Keep Me Going
In the interview, I talked about three qualities that have helped me most:
- Resourcefulness: I didn’t wait for the perfect camera or gear setup. I just started with what I had.
- Resilience: There have been moments of doubt, burnout, and feeling lost. But I kept showing up.
- Storytelling: The real connection happens when you share truth—not a polished version of yourself.
Why This Feature Matters
Being featured on Bold Journey is more than just press—it’s a reflection of the values I’ve built this brand around: independence, curiosity, self-trust, and healing through the outdoors.
It also comes at a time when Miles and Hikes is growing. I’m working on new digital guides, more collaborations, and building this platform into a hub for midlife adventurers and soul-searchers.
What’s Next for Miles and Hikes
As I continue to grow this platform, I’m focused on building more resources for women over 40 who want to travel solo, reconnect with nature, and create a life that feels expansive and real. New digital guides, playlists, and behind-the-scenes content are always in the works—and I’m so grateful to have you on this journey with me.
Thanks to Bold Journey for the feature!
