Witness the awe-inspiring moment when a friendly grey whale approached our boat during a whale watching tour, allowing us a once in a lifetime experience to touch it!. Our exploration continued with a visit to a nearby salt flat, and as we drove south, we discovered the charm of Punta Abreojos, where a curious coyote welcomed us to camp . The journey unfolds with a visit to the impressive San Ignacio Mission and the remnants of an old copper smelter plant in Santa Rosalia. As the sun set, we retraced our steps back to Puertecitos for another night of camping, concluding our road trip before returning home to Ensenada. I TOUCHED A WHALE in Baja, Mexico!

Whale watching in Baja ended up being a once in a lifetime experience!
Mexico is the only place in the World where you can touch majestic whales, as I did, if you’re lucky enough to have them come to the boat.

We took the Malarrimo Ecotour, which costs roughly U$S50/person. Tours depart twice daily (at 8AM and noon) from the Malarrimo Hotel, in Guerrero Negro. We took the 8AM tour, which shuttles you to the boat promptly at 8AM and brings you back to the Hotel at noon, so very good value for money.
